Blankie. The tale of a best friend

This is blankie.

Caden, five days old, and Blankie in his brighter days.

Caden became very attached to Blankie about the time he started watching Elmo, who goes to Grounchland in search of his own.

Blankie goes everywhere with Caden. The other day Caden was insistent on taking Blankie to the store so I tied Blankie around his neck like a scarf.

After a trip to the store, and a visit to the park, Blankie had to be washed. Caden was all brave about putting Blankie into the washed until it was time to shut the door-which sent the boy into hysterics.

He spent the next hour waiting by the garage door, diligently worrying about his best blankie.

Luckily, Blankie was ready by bedtime, clean and ready to snuggle.

20 months

Wow. Was it really 20 months ago that I took this picture and emailed it to all friends and family announcing the birth of my son?

Twenty months goes way too fast.

Self-confidence

It takes a boy who is really comfortable in his skin to:

Give himself kisses in the mirror

Pull off these shoes

All Done!

My son has a neat streak!

When he is done with eating, he has to carefully place all items back on the tray for me to pick them up.

Ah, now if he can just learn to fold laundry.

My sister Kat and my dear friend Nicole have both requested video of Caden. And since I'd do anything for either of them, I bribed Caden with tootsie rolls until I got him to do this. My favorite is his face when he says "mom" like, "Duh. That's an easy one."

Grandma's here!

This weekend my mom came to visit. Everytime my mom sees Caden, she's afraid he will have forgotten her. And every time, he responds to his grandma like this:

Caden LOVED the sweatshirt my mom brought. He would not take it off the entire weekend. We had to hide it to get him dressed for church!

At Disneyland, Caden wanted no one but my mom. She carried him all over the park!

Thank you for coming to visit! It was a sad little boy who cried all the way home from the airport after dropping Grandma off. Good thing you're coming back in a month!
